Here are some basic ways to identify counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARDS:
Cards stating that they are manufactured in China or are printed in the Chinese language ARE NOT authentic. Official Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARDS are only printed in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, French-Canadian, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Japanese.
The hologram located in the lower right-hand corner should have the Eye of Anubis located on it. The foil that is used can sometimes be scraped off with a fingernail or is put on the card incorrectly. Click here to view example.
The coating on the cards that Upper Deck utilizes is not unlike that of a deck of playing cards. Counterfeits often use "shiny" coating with many layers applied to make the card "feel" thicker.Click here to view example.
The back of the card should have KonamiĀ® in the top left hand corner and Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME located in the bottom right-hand corner. No markings whatsoever are a good indication of counterfeit.Click here to view example.
Spelling is another indicator of counterfeit. Counterfeiters usually misspell Konami and Kazuki Takahashi.Click here to view example.
Certain packaging looks blurred and even some are stickers (usually from vending machines). Click here to view example.
Please take a look at the following cards and learn to recognize the colors, hologram placement, wording, etc.Click here to view example.
