Job Title: Marketing Events Specialist, Trading Card Games

Summary
Responsible for one or more Marketing/Organized Play (OP) Programs . Currently UD organizes Premier Events for its various entertainment brands. Premier Events include, but are not limited to, Yu-Gi-Oh! and World of Warcraft TCG Sneak Previews, Yu-Gi-Oh! Regionals, Shonen Jump Championships and National Championships, and World of Warcraft Regional/Realm Qualifiers, Darkmoon Faires, and various Championships. The Marketing Events Specialist will assist with budgeting of each program as allocated through the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.
·         Creates and develops Marketing/OP programs designed to promote UD products and develops our customer base.

·         Writes and updates Operations Documents which detail business agreements and event operations for each program.

·         Communicate with Premier Tournament Organizers (PTOs) on a weekly basis, keeping them informed about various programs as well as collecting Marketing data from them.

·         Assigns events to PTOs  based on their historical attendance, customer base in their region, and planned growth.

·         Ensures PTOs are scheduling these events and providing information by deadlines so they can be advertised an appropriate amount of time.

·         Verifies that each event is uploaded via MANTIS after it is completed and PTOs have submitted all required documentation.

·         Works with PTOs to select and develop key staff for large OP events including head judges and scorekeepers.

·         Travels to Premier Events such as Faires and Shonen Jump Championships to act as the UD manager for the event and for training and development of the PTOs and judge staff.

·         Writes creative briefs for prizes and promotional items to support Premier Event programs such as play mats, deck tins, and t-shirts. Writes advertising briefs for various brands..

·         Schedules purchase requests so that prizes and other items are available in time to support events while meeting budget requirements.

·         Works closely with the Marketing team to schedule and disseminate information to the public about Marketing/Organized Play Programs.

·         Act as a communication liaison between the customer/player base and UD.

·         Prepare monthly Organized Play reports for various brands to be distributed to internal teams.

·         Organizes production of event kits that are shipped to PTOs and Hobby Stores to be used to Organized Play programs.

·         Work closely with a cross-functional marketing team including product marketing, advertising direct marketing, and corporate communications to ensure that a consistent message is being delivered.

·         Able to translate objectives of marketing campaigns into an event that will benefit the appropriate audience.

·         Develops and maintains content for the Organized Play portion of Upper Deck’s web pages.

 
Interaction
This position will interact closely with the Marketing Events Manager, related department and Company staff members and external parties.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
External Premier Tournament Organizers, volunteers, judges and event staff in tournament settings. 
 
Education/Years Experience
·         Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience.

·         2+ years of marketing and/or high-level Organized Play experience.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·         Knowledge of commonly used marketing, advertising and promotional concepts, practices, and procedures.
 
·         High-level knowledge of Organized Play including, but not limited to; competitive tournaments, hobby level programs, and “grass-roots” programs.

·         Knowledge of the Trading Card Game (TCG) industry (World of Warcraft TCG knowledge a plus).

·         Hands-on experience with a variety of Trading Card Game (TCG) products.

·         Strong background in the management of external parties.

·         Knowledge of basic budgeting and forecasting.

·         Excellent oral and written communications skills.

·         Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail.

·         Superior interpersonal, negotiating, consulting, analytical and problem solving abilities.

·         Professional demeanor; team player orientation.  Ability to interface with internal and external parties at all levels.

·         Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgment.

·         Hands on, energetic and motivated self-starter.

·         Possess creative marketing initiative and ability to implement projects effectively.

·         Ability to travel on behalf of the Company.

·         Proficiency in the following software or systems:  MS Office, MS Project, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, MANTIS.
