To encourage single copy newspaper sales, The Boston Globe and Upper Deck Premiums created an exclusive "gift with purchase" tranding card sheet activation program supported by an aggressive promotional strategy. Card sheets feature Boston's famed sports franchises -- the Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots.
For two or three consecutive weeks during each sports season, consumers redeemed coupons from The Globe at participating retailiers for a FREE card sheet. Each week of the promotion, a new card sheet was released giving fans the chance to collect their favorite athletes from each sport.
